Please be aware that we had several 8th grade students participate in the Cinnamon Challenge at school.
The Cinnamon challenge is a competition (a game) in which a person attempts to eat or swallow a spoonful of ground cinnamon without drinking anything. While the challenge appears to be very simple and easy, it is actually very difficult because the cinnamon quickly dries out the mouth, making it very prohibitive to swallow.
Officer Lehman reported to me that this behavior can be dangerous and even deadly. If you know of any students who are doing this please let me know and thanks so much for help with this!

New Year - Continued Focus!
I hope everyone had an excellent Holiday Season filled with fun, family and relaxation! As we move into our 2nd Semester of the school year, we will continue our focus on increasing student achievement and giving our students opportunities to "Link Learning to Life". Beginning next month, we will shift our focus for Hawk Time to include a more engaging intervention period for students needing additional help. Teachers are work diligently right now to determine where our needs lie. We ask that you continue to encourage your student to do their best! Whether it's homework, tests or Star Enterprise assessments, we need them to show us what they know. This will greatly assist our Curriculum Team in determining how to best meet the academic needs of all students.
Please check our school website and look for more information in the coming weeks about:
1. Black History Program
2. 3rd Annual Williams Middle School Community Blood Drive
3. PTSA General Meeting
4. Track team tryouts
Thanks for your continued support and Go Hawks!!
