- Greetings! I am Avis Williams, principal of Williams Middle School. Born and raised in Salisbury,NC, I joined the Army upon graduating high school. While in the Army, I was stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC, Yongsan, Korea and finally our own, Redstone Arsenal. I earned teaching certificates in the areas of English, Physical Education and Educational Administration. I completed my doctorate degree at the University of Alabama. Prior to Williams Middle School, I worked as an elementary principal in Huntsville and a middle school assistant principal in Madison City. I have a 17 year old daughter and I am proud to be a "cheer mom" and a "soccer mom"! As an avid runner, I compete in several 10K races and half marathons each year. Additionally, I enjoy reading and community service.
