- Greetings! I am Avis Williams, principal of Salisbury High School. Born and raised in Salisbury,NC, I joined the Army upon graduating from North Rowan High School. While in the Army, I was stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC, Yongsan, Korea and finally, Redstone Arsenal, AL. I earned teaching certificates in the areas of English, Physical Education and Educational Administration. I completed my doctorate degree at the University of Alabama. Prior to Salisbury High School, I worked as a high school English teacher, PE teacher and coach. I then served as a middle school assistant principal as well as an elementary and middle school principal in Alabama. I have an 18 year old daughter and I am proud to be a "cheer mom" and a "soccer mom"! She is headed to the University of Alabama this fall majoring in Engineering (Roll Tide!). As an avid runner, I compete in several 10K races and half marathons each year. Additionally, I enjoy reading, writing and community service. I am excited to serve in my home community and look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence at Salisbury High School!
