Good Ole Days Spring Carnival

With spring comes fresh flowers, sprouting trees, and fundraisers!

On Saturday April 28, 2012  our PTSA will host our Good Ole Days Spring Carnival, and our 1st Drive 4Kids fundraiser! Our Carnival will feature the UAH MindSET Engineering and Math Workshop (in the morning), our Spring Talent Fest (in the afternoon), and of course games and food all day! Come join the fun! Bingo, ring toss, cake walk, face painting, and much more! We are so excited about The Chrysler Corporation Fundraiser at our Carnival! This fundraiser is very easy in that we don’t have to sell anything! We simply just need your “Time” to test drive a car. How does this work you might ask? Chrysler will donate $10 to our school for every adult over the age of 18 with a valid driver's license that drives a car around the school campus. We need your support!

See you Saturday, April 28th from 9am-2pm!  We will have a Good Ole Time!!!

Happy Spring Break!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Spring Break!  School resumes on Monday April 2nd.  During that week, all grade levels will participate in Testing Orientation.  The purpose of this orientation is to ensure that all students are aware of the testing dates/schedule and the guidelines to be followed during our testing period.  One thing that I want to emphasize to parents and students is that cell phones or other electronic devices are not allowed in the testing rooms.  These items should be either left at home or locked in the student's locker.  Testing begins on Tuesday April 10th and I will post the specific testing schedule next week.  In the meantime, enjoy Spring Break!

3rd Annual Williams Middle School Community Blood Drive

I am so excited!  The 3rd Annual Williams Middle School Blood Drive is Tuesday, February 14th from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m inside the middle school gym.

Donating blood with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers serves our local community. Blood donated with LifeSouth stays in North Alabama; helping patients in our local hospitals. Approximately 1,000 people are needed each week for local patient care. Please join us on Tuesday, February 14th and make a lifesaving difference.
• All blood donors will be entered into a drawing for an iPad2.

• Each student that recruits at least two donors will receive a homework pass (donors that fill out the pledge card and donate blood).

All blood types are needed!  Join us and give the gift of life!

The Cinnamon Challenge

Please be aware that we had several 8th grade students participate in the Cinnamon Challenge at school.

The Cinnamon challenge is a competition (a game) in which a person attempts to eat or swallow a spoonful of ground cinnamon without drinking anything. While the challenge appears to be very simple and easy, it is actually very difficult because the cinnamon quickly dries out the mouth, making it very prohibitive to swallow.

Officer Lehman reported to me that this behavior can be dangerous and even deadly. If you know of any students who are doing this please let me know and thanks so much for help with this!
